Eyebrows: treatments, prices and duration
Microblading, powder brows, lamination or simply shaping and tinting: with eyebrows the technique decides how long the result lasts and what it costs. The gap between semi-permanent pigmentation and a treatment that fades in six weeks is large — below is which technique matches which expectation.
Shaping, tinting and henna
The basic treatment — shaping with tweezers, thread or wax, optionally with tint — takes 15 to 30 minutes and costs 15 to 30 euros. Tint lasts 2 to 4 weeks; henna also colours the skin underneath and therefore appears to last a little longer. This is the cheapest way to test which shape suits your face before committing to anything semi-permanent.
Microblading and powder brows
Microblading draws fine hair strokes into the upper layer of skin with a handheld blade; powder brows are applied with a machine for a soft, powdered shade. Both take 2 to 3 hours, cost 250 to 450 euros and last 1 to 3 years. A touch-up after 6 to 8 weeks is part of the process and is usually included — ask explicitly, because not every salon prices it that way.
Brow lamination
Lamination sets your own hairs in an upward direction with a lotion, making the brow look fuller and neater without any pigment. It takes 45 to 60 minutes, costs 45 to 70 euros and lasts 4 to 6 weeks. It works best on brows that have enough hair but grow in every direction; where there are real gaps in the shape, lamination changes little.
Frequently asked questions
What does microblading cost?
In Belgium usually 250 to 450 euros, including the touch-up after 6 to 8 weeks. Check that the touch-up really is part of the price.
How long does microblading last?
1 to 3 years, depending on your skin type, sun exposure and aftercare. Oily skin makes the pigment fade faster.
What is the difference between microblading and powder brows?
Microblading draws individual hairs and looks more natural; powder brows give a soft, even shade and often last longer, including on oily skin.
Does microblading hurt?
A numbing cream is used; most people describe it as scratchy but manageable. Sensitivity varies per person and with where you are in your cycle.
How long does brow lamination last?
4 to 6 weeks. After that your hairs grow back in their own direction; you can repeat it, but give your brows a rest in between.
