Facial: treatments, prices and duration
A facial can mean almost anything: a relaxing hour of cleansing, or a medical peel that leaves your skin flaking for days. The name on the price list tells you little — what matters is the problem you want to address. Below are the most common treatments, what they do and when they make sense.
Classic cleansing facial
Cleansing, steaming, extractions, a mask and a finishing cream: the standard facial takes 60 to 75 minutes and costs 55 to 85 euros. It is the right choice for maintenance and clogged pores, not for pigmentation or deep lines. Do not book it right before an important event — your skin can stay slightly red for a day.
Peels and microneedling
Chemical peels use acids that loosen the top layer of skin; they target pigmentation, fine lines and acne scarring. Microneedling creates micro-channels with fine needles so the skin produces more collagen itself. Both work in courses of 3 to 6 sessions, every 3 to 4 weeks, at 90 to 180 euros per session. Sun protection afterwards is not advice but a condition.
Acne treatment
Acne almost always needs a course, not a single treatment. An aesthetician combines cleansing, targeted extraction and acids, and sets up a home routine; expect 4 to 8 sessions over several months. With inflamed, painful acne or scarring, a dermatologist belongs in the picture — a salon can care for and calm the skin, but does not prescribe medication.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I have a facial?
For maintenance every 4 to 6 weeks, which follows your skin renewal cycle. In a course of peels or microneedling the specialist keeps 3 to 4 weeks between sessions.
What does a facial cost in Belgium?
A classic cleansing facial is 55 to 85 euros. Peels and microneedling are higher: 90 to 180 euros per session, usually as a course.
Can I go straight back outside after a peel?
Yes, but with high sun protection and out of direct sunlight. Your skin stays sensitive for days; without protection you risk more pigmentation, not less.
Does a salon treatment help with acne?
With mild to moderate acne, a course of treatments plus a good home routine clearly helps. With inflamed or scarring acne, a dermatologist should be involved as well.
What exactly is microneedling?
Fine needles create micro-channels in the skin, prompting it to produce collagen, which softens fine lines and scarring.
